T he trajectory of movement artificial satellite is called as an orbit. During free flight of the satellite when its onboard jet engines are switched off, movement happens under the influence of gravitational forces and by inertia, and the main force is Earth attraction. If to consider Earth strictly spherical, and action of a gravitational field of Earth — the only force influencing the satellite, movement artificial satellite submits to Kepler's known laws: it occurs in motionless (in absolute space) the plane passing through the center of Earth — the orbit planes; the orbit has an ellipse or circle form (a special case of an ellipse). At satellite movement total mechanical energy (kinetic and potential) remains invariable owing to what during removal of the satellite from Earth the speed of its movement decreases.
